Mechanical Engineer

Location: Indianapolis, IN

Summary

Our Mechanical Engineers execute new product design and remediation activities to existing products, by carrying out project execution from initiation through completion within the framework of Sonablate’s quality management system. In addition to design changes that enhance performance, addressing quality issues, and maintaining compliance to applicable standards. Mechanical Engineers also perform product investigations to determines root cause and implement corrective actions.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support for existing and new products by developing solutions for problems primarily of mechanical nature with some supervisory oversight
  • Research, verify, and implement the replacement of end-of-life components while sustaining current product design intents
  • Design parts, assemblies and systems using SolidWorks under supervision of a Lead Engineer
  • Implement new designs and solutions to existing products and actively participate in the design of new products, systems, and sub-systems
  • Generate test protocols and reports and execute product testing within Sonablate’s Fry Laboratory
  • Develop jigs, tools, equipment, etc., and accompanying instructions and documentation
  • Work to maintain product performance and quality of existing products by leading and assisting with issues related to CAPAs, customer complaints, and manufacturing processes
  • Follow strict adherence to policies and procedures associated with an FDA controlled environment
  • Assist manufacturing with testing and troubleshooting during startup of manufacturing
  • Provide support to other Engineers as needed


Qualifications/Specifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • 0-3 years experience in related field
  • Experience in hardware/software interfacing, preferred
  • Previous experience in medical device design is highly desirable
  • Basic knowledge electro-mechanical systems, polymers, and metals
  • Basic knowledge of manufacturing methods or processes
  • Basic knowledge of SolidWorks
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Great technical writing skills
  • Familiarity with tool shop equipment (mill, lathe, drill-press, small tools, etc.)
